Taking Final Orders

I just wanted to give you a little heads up about the ol shop. After this week, Friday night, to be exact, I won't be taking anymore customizable Christmas card orders. I'll still provide the photoshop templates but not the customizable cards.

I want to take a bit of an online break for the month of December so I can focus my time and energies on my family and advent. And although I have loved working on your Christmas cards the last month and getting to know some of you better, the time has come for me to finish up orders and spend more time with my loves. I'll have a post here and there but for the most part, this little space will be quiet. That's the plan anyways!

So, if you have been planning on ordering a card, you have two days left before I take them down. And just to clarify, you can buy the card now - even if you don't have your picture. Just send me the pictures when you get them and I'll take care it.

Okay, hurry over to the shop and get your card order in before you forget!

Thankful for the simple things

A little while back - before I got bogged down with shop craziness (not complaining, just haven't had much time to do anything else on the computer like upload pictures from over a week ago) the weather was still beautiful and I took the girls to the park.

Sweet P could live in a swing and be happy as could be.

park1

Notice the double headbands on that girl. She picked out her own outfit and accessorized herself. Such a rockstar.

Little sister apparently needed a little push.

park2

park3

After over an hour of swinging, I needed a break and needed the two-year old to run some energy off so we took a little walk around the park and I stole a few pictures of my girls.

park4

I have to admit. I always feel a little cliche taking pictures at this park. It's know as like "THE picture place" for prom pics, baby pics, engagement pics ... get the picture. Ha. I crack myself up.

But seriously, we live so close and it has swings for crying out loud. Not to mention the amazing colors of fall! There's obviously a reason this place is so popular and I just can't help myself!

Anyway, Sweet P wasn't so thrilled about the break. Obviously.

park5

But she got over it when I distracted her with an adventure of finding different colored leaves.

park6

A cool breeze gave Little Sister the chills. There's not much cuter than a sweet little baby getting the chills.

park7

Don't worry, it was really warm in the sun. I wasn't freezing my kiddos - there's nothing cute about that.

Besides swinging, jumping just might be Sweet P's favorite outdoor activity. It never takes her long to find something to jump off of. Thankfully there are a lot of rocks at the park.

park8

Perfect for climbing and jumping.

And wearing a two-year-old-ball-of-energy out!

park9

I'm so thankful for the small things.

Swings.

Rocks.

And a little sunshine!

Oh, and two girls that took long naps at the same time :)

Millionaire Pie - Granny's recipe

Thanksgiving is in two days!!

Today I'm doing the grocery shopping, tomorrow I'll be making a few things in advance (cran-grape compote, deviled eggs and sweet potato casserole) to take to our dinner and then Thursday, I'll be eating.

A lot.

A lot of really good food.

Today I'm sharing a recipe we typically have as a dessert with Christmas dinner but I have been craving it so I'm bringing it to Thanksgiving dinner this year. My grandma used to make these two pies every year and there were never leftovers. I think this pies has a few names but, in our family, we call it Millionaire Pie.

millionairepie

If you've never enjoyed this pie, the ingredients may sound a little odd to you but trust me, it's delicious. Here's what you'll need:

millionpierecipe

I snagged that card from my mom's recipe box a couple of years ago.

Here's a typed out list to make it a little easier for you:
2 baked 9" pie crusts (recipe here)
2 cups sifted powdered sugar
1 stick butter - room temp
2 eggs
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup heavy whipping cream
1/2 cup sifted powdered sugar
1 cup crushed pineapple, drained
1/2 cup chopped pecans

First you need to bake your pie crusts. This recipe makes two pies, hence the 2 baked pie crusts. You can find grandma's pie dough recipe here. Let them cool completely.

millionpie

Then it's time to make the filling. There are two layers of fillings so we'll start with the first for obvious reasons.

Cream 2 cups powdered sugar and a stick of butter in a tabletop mixer. Then add the eggs, salt and vanilla and beat until fluffy. Divide the filling between the two crusts and refrigerate until chilled.

millionpie2

Then, whip the cup of cream until stiff. Blend in the sugar. Fold in the pineapple and pecans. Divide this between the two pies and spread over the pies. Chill and serve.

Enjoy!

Oh, and you may want to stop by Thursday for a special black Friday code for my shop :)

Thank You

In the spirit of thankfulness this week, I'm offering my own little thank you to you guys.

I had a lot of people ask me if I would be doing any chalk art prints they could get so I've added two new items to my shop.

The first is this print and you can order it here.

8x10NotAllWhoWander

I just love that quote. I've seen it around and didn't realize it was actually taken from the Lord of the Rings movie until I decided to make a print out of it. I designed and hand drew the artwork before digitizing on my computer to make the print.

Anyway, I love it and hope you do too!

The other is a set of 2 thank you cards with envelopes.

5halfx4quarter-Thank-You-Card-on-canvas

You can order them here.

They are also hand drawn and digitized to become thank you notes. Perfect for all those gifts you'll be getting or for a host/hostess at any upcoming party!

And the thank you to you guys comes in the form of a discount! From now until Monday, use the code THANKFUL to get free shipping on any order!

Happy Friday!! And thank you.

Oh Katy

Today's thank you goes to one of my new favorite people/bloggers/designers, the talented Katy of katygirl designs.

You probably remember me talking about her a while back - my ol mug swap buddy! Anyway, she's pretty awesome, as I've said before.

But she surprised me recently with my very own copy of her Great Things print!

Great Things print by Katygirl designs

I didn't take me long to get that one framed and up on the mantel.

I love it.

Don't you?

I thought so, that's why I'm letting you know where you can get your own copy (and/or a copy for a friend for Christmas) of the print! Right here!!

Also, go check out her blog, she's doing a fun series called Jolly Holiday. There are all kinds of ideas to get you in the holiday spirit! And someone you may know, *ahem* me *ahem* may be doing a post in the not too distant future!

Sisters!

In continuing with my week of thanking some amazingly talented artists out there, I want to introduce you to Heather of CM Handmade.

We did a little swapp-a-roo and she surprised me with this amazingly beautiful banner.

sistersbanner

I had full intentions of hanging it the day I opened it. But, then life happened.

Wa-wa-waaaaaaah.

I have to say, I have been eyeing her banners since I first saw them on my sister's blog when she was a sponsor. She has a huge variety of designs, including custom ones. And then, one day on instagram, I saw it. The sisters banner! I fell in love.

We had already talked a little here and there on which one I may like but I never thought she would surprise me with that lovely!!

And I have to say, the banner in person is even more beautiful than any picture could do justice. The craftsmanship, or craftwomanship ;), is amazing. It's such great quality and beautiful fabrics. Love!

Anyway, go to her shop now and check out her talent. Get a little something fun for your house and go ahead and grab a Christmas gift for someone else while you're there!!
