Advent Week 1 in Review

We started an new  Christmas tradition last year with Sweet P and decided to continue it this year. We have an Advent calendar house-like-thing that has little door to open each night.

So we decided to fill each door with a variety of activities to do, Bible verses to read, movies to watch, songs to sing and dance to and food to eat to open each night.

Here's the first seven days:

Advent Day 1

Advent Day 2

Advent Day 3

Advent Day 4

Advent Day 6

Advent Day 7

I'm curious, what traditions do you have or Christmas treats you always make?

  1. We are making puppy Chow on Friday for a Christmas party... but we are calling it Reindeer Treats! We LOVE puppy chow in our house. It's dangerous!
Great idea! Next year I think we are going to start the Elf on the Shelf tradition.

  2. We started Advent this year as well. I have added things on the list as it approaches. Go see a live nativity, pop popcorn and string it to make garland, make a treat and take it up to the church the night the worship team practices, have some little friends over one morning for a Birthday party for Jesus and kids can bring gifts for operation Christmas child or Compassion. I'm really enjoying it so far.

  3. Gold Bears... YUM. Now I want some. And Puppy Chow... :)

I'm doing the December Daily scrapbooking project again this Christmas, and we've enjoyed looking back to see what we were doing last year.

I love the simple ideas you used in your Advent calendar. I think it would be fun to do one made up entirely of Christmas carols. That would be so fun and easy. :)

  4. I love your blog! 'Christmas Vacation is also one of our family traditions too. Coming from the Southern Hemisphere, one of our Christmas treats is an ice-cream bomb which my mum always makes. It is a dome shaped ice-cream cake made of three different layers. The middle layer has maltezers or chocolate chunks mixed in with it. Just the treat you need at a warm Christams.

I know it can be a little scary but go on, I'd love to hear from you!
