Ooh laa laa...I want!
I saw this Kent and London Alphabet drawers on a typography post on design*sponge and really, really want one. Plus, that whole post is pretty much awesome.
I would also like to decorate my whole house using typographic elements...if not for the husband. He doesn't appreciate it as much as I do. Silly engineers.
Hmmm, now, who do I know that can build???

Country Music Monday - I Cross My Heart
I took a trip down memory lane this weekend. I was reorganizing a closet that had a bunch of photo albums and random loose pictures in it.
It was a little sad when I saw how many BAD hair cuts I've had over the years, not to mention how many BAD dye jobs I've had!!
Anyway, I came across a picture that I forgot existed!! Yay!
For those of you that don't know, Eric, aka the husband, and I started dating in high school. Before that he had a crush on my for a few years. I mentioned our first dance a few posts back. Well, I have a treat for you today. Pictures, never before published, from our first dance.
Here's the husband.
And here I am with a girl friend.
I'm still the same height, Eric, on the other hand is now over a foot taller. This isn't quite where our love story began, but it still makes me laugh at how long we've been hanging around each other.
So, that leads me to the song for today, I Cross My Heart, by George Strait.
My brother-in-law sang this at our wedding. I love it.
And here are some more historical photos for your enjoyment!

Lyrics:
Our love is unconditional
We knew it from the start
I see it in your eyes
You can feel it from my heart
From here on after
Lets stay the way we are right now
And share all the love and laughter
That a life time will allow
I cross my heart and promise to
Give all I've got to give
To make all your dreams come true
In all the world you'll never find
A love as true as mine
You will always be the miracle
That makes my life complete
And as long as theres a breath in me
I'll make yours just as sweet
As we look into the future
It's as far as we can see
So lets make each tomorrow
Be the best that it can be
I cross my heart and promise to
Give all I've got to give
To make all your dreams come true
In all the world you'll never find
A love as true as mine
And if along the way we find a day
It starts to storm
You've got the promise of my love
To keep you warm
In all the world
You'll never find
A love as true as mine
A love as true as mine
And here are some more historical photos for your enjoyment!

Oatmeal Cream Pies
Since I've been working in the office on Thursdays and have had family watch P, Wednesday has become a baking day. I've been trying to make little treats for the person watching my girl, a small thank you.
This week was chocolate chip oatmeal cookies and oatmeal cream pies.
I used this recipe from Everyday Food for the cookies (minus the what germ because I rarely have it) and this recipe (using pumpkin pie spice instead of cinnamon) for the cream filling. After making them, I should have gone with a chewier cookie. These were a little crispy. Oh well, they were still good!
Dry ingredients

Buttery goodness

Adding the eggs and vanilla

Adding the dry to the buttery goodness

Then the chocolate chips

Little dough balls

Making the cream filling

Mini Oatmeal Cream Pie rady to eat!!

Embrace the Camera - Off to Work
I like this little challenge I saw on the Anderson family crew.

Every Thursday you're supposed to embrace the camera and get out from behind the camera and get a pick of yourself with your little person. So, yesterday I took a quick pic of me and my girl. I was leaving for work and her nana was coming to pick her up to babysit.
It's been brought to my attention that I'm a little emotional. Well, yes, I am. I could stop here and leave you with a happy thought. But no, I will continue and tell you how the rest of the day went.
Emotional!
About 5 minutes after this picture was taken I was a mess (and by mess, I mean a blubbering fool. Couldn't stop crying.) I walked my little girl to her nana's car and kissed her good-bye. I went to work from 8-4:30 yesterday - longest day away from my baby since she was born.
Boo.
I was a mess the whole way to work. I finally pulled myself together and dried up the tears, drove circles in the parking lot to clear up the redness so everyone didn't ask me if I was okay and finally made my way in.
I soon realized I was in 30 min. early! I was glad for this. There weren't many people in yet so I got to have a little extra time to pull myself together. I got my coffee and breezed through the first half of the day.
Then lunch hit and the end was in sight. Only 3.5 more hours until I got to see my baby girl again. But then my sister sent me an email that made my afternoon.
The subject was "pea in a bucket." My first thought was, oh my, what have her kids done this time! But then I got to see my sweet little girl in a bucket!! Love it.
Nana took Sweet P over to her auntie's in the afternoon. She agreed to take P's 3 month pics so I baked her oatmeal cream pies and oatmeal chocolate chip cookies.
Anyway, 4:30 finally hit and I was out the door. No time for small talk, I had a baby to see.
I am thankful I don't have to work full-time in the office right now and am even more thankful for my family that watches my girl when I do have to go into the office.
Hope you all have a great Friday!!

Reasons #44, #98 and #652 of Why I Like My iPhone
This was scheduled to post yesterday but I was at work all day so I never checked it. I already messed up the posting every day this month and it was only day 4!!! Ha! Oh well, better luck next time!!
#44 : Being able to take a picture of this cutie in the morning!
#98 : Being able to take a picture of this cutie on our way to get donuts!
#652 : Ability to take pictures of random things I find while out and about...
This quote came to mind the other day while I was changing an especially explosive diaper. It made me laugh.
What's your favorite piece of technology?

Sweet P's 1st Halloween
Truth be told, I started thinking about what I could do for P's first Halloween for over a month and ended up doing basically nothing. Bad mom.
I had visions of what she could be. A cute little pumpkin with a massive, orange tulle skirt! The husband wanted her to be a peanut, but how do you make a cute peanut for a baby that can't crawl? Or maybe a peacock. She could have looked so cute but, I didn't make anything and really didn't want to buy anything.
I mean really, what was the point? She wasn't going trick-or-treating or to any parties. She was just going to be in bed sleeping while we passed out candy. So the only reason to put her in an outfit was to take a picture. So, I rummaged through her clothes and transformed her from a cute little baby to a cute little ballerina.
I wanted her to be a contemporary dancer, complete with polka dot tights, a multi-color striped onesie and bright pink tutu. The husband preferred the traditional ballerina. Pink onesie, white tights and the pink tutu.
So, here she is...
By the way, this was the first Halloween that we actually passed out candy instead of turning out out light. I get points for that, right?

Mark Your Calendars for Unite 2010
I've been crazy busy lately. It's been quite an adjustment getting used to caring for a little one and working part-time. I've been working from home with a little time in the office once a week. This week I have to be in the office for an entire day!
Yikes!
I don't know if I'm ready for this. Okay, I know I'm not but I think I will be okay. I will be plenty busy at work getting ready for Unite.
Unite is Tulsa United Way's final campaign celebration. The evening is free to the public and there will also be free hors d'oeuvres!! The purpose the event is the celebrate the campaign accomplishments and announce how much the Tulsa area gave to help support the 61 local agencies the United Way supports.
For those of you that aren't familiar with the Tulsa United Way and who it supports, here's a little help. Did you know they help fund programs for YWCA? Broken Arrow Seniors? The Salvation Army and Goodwill? They also help the Red Cross local chapter.
And that's just 5 of the agencies they fund!
If you didn't get an invitation in the mail, here's your invite (yeah, I designed that):
So come out Nov. 11 and celebrate with me!! RSVP at tauw.org/unite!

Country Music Monday - In My Daughter's Eyes
Happy Monday! Hope you all had a great weekend!!
Here's another awesome country song for your Monday morning. This one is for all the mom's out there with daughters...
This past week has been crazy busy so posting has not been a priority. I hope to post more this week, maybe even do the NaBloPoMo (National Blog Posting Month) and try to post each day this month. Key words here, maybe and try. We'll see.
So for today anyway, here are some pics we took this week with Sweet P. I've been playing around with actions and love the effects on these.
Hope you all have a great week!
Here's another awesome country song for your Monday morning. This one is for all the mom's out there with daughters...
Lyrics:
In my daughter's eyes I am a hero
I am strong and wise and I know no fear
But the truth is plain to see
She was sent to rescue me
I see who I wanna be
In my daughter's eyes
In my daughter's eyes everyone is equal
Darkness turns to light and the
world is at peace
This miracle God gave to me gives me
strength when I am weak
I find reason to believe
In my daughter's eyes
And when she wraps her hand
around my finger
Oh it puts a smile in my heart
Everything becomes a little clearer
I realize what life is all about
It's hangin' on when your heart
has had enough
It's giving more when you feel like giving up
I've seen the light
It's in my daughter's eyes
In my daughter's eyes I can see the future
A reflection of who I am and what will be
Though she'll grow and someday leave
Maybe raise a family
When I'm gone I hope you see how happy
she made me
For I'll be there
In my daughter's eyes
