Failed Attempts

Confession time.

I took all of last week (and the start of this week) off from my Insanity workouts. The alarm continued to go off but I just turned it off and slept instead.

I planned on getting up at 5:30 this morning to do that cardio thing but sheesh, 5:30 is so early. I hit the snooze again. Maybe I'll try to fit it in this afternoon sometime.

That's not my only failure today. I tried making this recipe, courtesy Pioneer Woman and it just didn't turn out.

That's the photo from her recipe I found via pinterest. Iced coffees are one of my favorite things so I was a little giddy when I saw this recipe. I started the steeping process yesterday then went to strain the grounds but my version just looked like really strong tea. It was not what I had expected.

Now I need a new recipe unless there's someone out there that knows the trick to P-dub's. If you have a great recipe for iced coffees, please send it my way.

  2. I love iced coffee as well. Luckily I have the PERFECT tool to help steep and strain the grounds. It's called a Toddy Maker. It comes with two reusable filters that last a LONG time. I have had mine for about 6 years and it's worked great!!! And comes with a container for storing. Then you can follow PW's recipe from there :)

  6. I really wanted to try her iced coffee but didn't think that I would be able to make a success out of it, sorry it didn't work for you...

If I want a cold coffee I usually brew an extra strong pot of coffee add a little sugar to it while it's still warm and then put it in a container in the fridge to cool. When it's cool I drink it with cream over ice. it's also really good added to a vanilla milk shake to make a coffee milk shake ;)

Also, my dear friend makes something called coffee punch that is to die for. Use the same cold coffee with sugar added described above, add cream to taste and then top with scoops of vanilla ice cream. It's super delicious at a brunch or dessert party :)

ps- I have never posted before but I adore your blog thanks for sharing all that you do :)

  7. I just take my regular hot morning coffee and mix it with 1 packet of Splenda and then whatever creamer I have in the fridge (right now it is vanilla latte). I don't measure the creamer, I just eye-ball it to my liking. Then I get a full cup of ice (we have crushed Sonic-like ice at work) and pour the mixed coffee into it. Delicious!

  11. i've tried the cold brew method as well, and it didn't turn out great. i might be missing something, but i'm not sure why ppl do it? i've started just pouring our leftover morning coffee in a jar and keeping it in the fridge. we like it sweetened with maple syrup. maybe not the "right" way to make iced coffee, but it works for us. good luck.
