I've been cleaning up a storm and trying to get as much prepared as possible - without knowing the sex of this little baby. There are two big things on my mind right now: what will he/she wear home from the hospital and what will we do with the nursery.
I know, the big things! Ha. But seriously, I think we're covered boy/girl for the most part, especially if it's a girl.
I have diapers, swaddling blankets, a bassinet ready in our room and all the other stuff you need for a baby. I just can't commit to buying an outfit for it to come home in. I mean, boy/girl, I want it to be obvious when we leave. No yellow here. I guess I should probably get two outfits to be safe.
My second concern is the nursery because no matter the sex, the two kiddos will be sharing a room.
Well, eventually, because the first weeks (or months) baby #2 will be in a bassinet in our room.
So, if it's a girl, we're set and I won't have to do much to the nursery. I'll change some things up a bit to make room but the colors and most everything else will remain the same. After all, it is my favorite room in the house.
Oh, and speaking of the nursery, I found out it was recently featured on a couple blogs! You can see my tour by clicking here. You can also see what others thought by visiting Chic and Cheap Nursery or Small Spaces. I thought it was pretty awesome!
What was I saying? Oh yes, now the real problem with the nursery will come if it's a boy. What to do? Do I split the room in half? Go neutral? I don't know. I'm welcome to any ideas. The major plus is that when we planned the nursery we picked a paint color for the walls that could go either way, boy or girl. So at least there won't be any painting.
Anyway, that's what's on my mind right now.
That and wondering this little person will be!
my boy and girl share a bedroom. it has changed around a bit since i posted this a while ago but here's a peek at their "shared theme but equally boy on one side girl on the other" room. http://bethmariephotography.com/2011/01/the-shared-bedroom-finally/
ReplyDeletemaybe there's some inspiration there. i know it took a great deal of time for me to find shared room inspiration.
ReplyDeleteMy goodness how time flies!!!! Seems like you just told us yesterday! I envy you for waiting, I hear there is no greater surprise in life :)
ReplyDeleteSweet P's room was absolutely adorable and I'm sure you'll make it work out beautifully. Praying for a safe delivery and a fast recovery. Can't wait to see pictures!!!
you look great!
ReplyDeletei love your nursery and if you bring homw a boy i think adding a few vintage trucks and or airplanes will do the trick! maybe add a pillow to the glider and make a blue and green mobile over the crib. or add a few boyish framed hoops on the wall.
with your style i am sure it will be lovely!
i can't wait to see what you do with the room! and what you bring home!
blessings~
I love the colors in your nursery.
ReplyDeleteAll my boys came home with the same outfit. I planned it that way so I could eventually pass it down to them as grown ups and maybe they can bring their babies home in the same outfit.
I didn't know what my first was going to be. So I also bought one boy and one girl outfit. Luckily she got to come home in the prettiest little outfit from Gymboree! It was a light purple-blue outfit with white polkadots and little pink flowers. Awe sweet babies! And you look great. Can't wait to see the nursery. And the BABY!!
ReplyDeleteWOW!! so exciting!! you look adorable!!
ReplyDeleteI think if you had a boy, make grey your main color and then pops of the colors you already have mixed in with an aqua would be very cute. Sweet p's side could be more dominantly in girl colors and then baby boy's side would be in his colors but it would all be blended in. So excited...it's almost that time!!!
