All About My Sweet P

As my due date approaches, less than 11 weeks to go, I'm trying to take in every moment with my little Sweet P that I can.

We shop, picnic, meet daddy to feed the ducks and just enjoy our time together.





She's a lot like her momma, in many ways.

She has been inherited my inability to sit still when music comes on, love of laughter and a serious love for donuts.



She's also a lot like her daddy.

She thrives in the cold, she has the most gorgeous eyes and isn't afraid to get a little dirty.



She loves to be outside and she recently got to walk our little dog for the first time. The kid oozes joy!




She oozes joy a lot and is getting big so fast. We tried piggie-tails for the first time, she insists on doing most things by herself, she can rock massive headbands, neon and sunglasses - at the same time, she loves to color and she's getting more and more independent every day.

All of a sudden, my little sweet P turned into a full-out child.



She's a riot to be around and although I will miss our time together just the 3 of us, I'm pretty excited to watch her continue to grow and become an awesome big sister.

That Explains It

I'm assuming the post yesterday will answer a few questions as to my lack of presence here. A good friend called and asked if I was ok because I hadn't been posting so I decided I better clear it up here.

Yes, we are expecting another little one. Due date is set for April 1. Seriously, I'm not foolin' (get it, due date on April Fool's, yes I'm a nerd).

That means I'm close to 10 weeks along. It's a bit early than I wanted to share the news but the husband has been telling pretty much everyone - including strangers - so I caved and decided to share the news here too.



I haven't been feeling the greatest and I've been extremely tired. Like, I wake up and feel like I need a nap and have been falling asleep on the couch just after we put P down to bed (8pm). I don't really have a routine when it comes to writing this thing. Sometimes I write in the morning (when I was doing Insanity and up before the rest of the house - clearly I'm no longer doing that crazy workout) sometimes I write when P's down for her naps. She still takes two naps a day and I've been trying to nap when she does but I just can't fall asleep during the day. And, other times I write at night, but seeing how I'm falling asleep at 8 or 9 I just had the energy or desire to do it.



As you guys know, I really like food, however, I have been feeling nauseous all the time and just cooking food makes me want to puke. Too much for ya in the morning? Sorry, but seriously, the other night I was cooking ground turkey and almost had to stop and leave the house all together. The stench permeated the house and I didn't think the stink would ever go away. Needless to say, I didn't eat that meal and I certainly didn't have the stomach to stand near it to take a picture!

However, if I don't have to cook it, food isn't so bad. Bring on the donuts and ice cream.

All that to say there probably won't be many food posts for a bit. And since food is something I talk about a lot here, that probably means I won't be posting as often.

So, there you have it, I'm pregnant and preparing for a new little one. Ohhh, I am so excited about holding a teeny-tiny, sweet-baby-smelling little one.

Then and Now

One year ago I was 26 weeks pregnant with my sweet little girl. I wondered what she would look like. Would she have her daddy's smile? My eyes? What would it sound like when she laughed?

That was then.

This is now.

That sweet little baby is now 9 months old! Happy 9 months of life P. You do have your daddy's smile, his eyes and maybe even his nose. You have my chin and definitely have my cheeks. And that laugh, it's pretty awesome. Your mommy and daddy love you so much!

Good-bye 2010, Hello 2011

I started 2010 being pregnant and will be ringing in the New Year with a pretty awesome 5 month old and fabulous husband/best friend/father!!

Here's to a Happy New Year (and not being pregnant)!

Sweet P's Nursery

Well, this has been a long time coming but I finally got around to taking pictures of Paisley's finished nursery. I'm pretty proud of it. I wanted it to be bright and girly, but not baby girly.

So, my mom and I started off at a fabric store and with her help, I found about 4 or 5 coordinating fabrics to use throughout the nursery. I told her the things I had in mind for fabric and brought my sketch book.

I don't sew, but my mom does and with a little latte persuasion,

she agreed to make a crib sheet, dust ruffle, curtains and I somehow managed to get her to recover the cushions on the glider we got!! Yay for mom.

All the framed photos throughout her room were taken by her Aunt Ashley and I LOVE them. The hardest part was deciding which photos to frame because there were so many amazing ones to choose from.

So here's a little tour...

View looking at the crib. Most of the pom poms came from Paisley's shower, the others I made. The banner with her name was made by my sister and was also from her shower. Then there's the dust ruffle, crib blanket and curtains made by mom. The side table was mine growing up and it used to be white with purple details - I spray painted it to match the room.

There's the recovered cushions on the glider and ottoman, the chandelier was a gift from my dad, the print on the wall is my husband holding Paisley in his hands when she was 6 days old and I found the baskets to hang on the wall for my book "shelf."

The other side of the wall is my DIY wall. I used the leftover fabric for embroidery hoops to hang on the wall. I included the birth announcement I designed on one, an advice note from my sister on another (the note reads: You can't hold her too much, one day she won't want to be held) and the embroidered hoop was my very first Mother's Day gift from For the love of Joy. I also had a couple of small frames laying around so I spray painted those and put a rolled fabric flower in one and one of my favorite newborn pictures of Paisley in another.

The other side of the wall is the changing area with a basket filled with quilts made by her Granny Sandy, Great Grandma and friends.

I love these shelves. They are loaded with fun things for me to look at while I'm changing dirty diapers!

On one shelf I framed a couple of the maternity pictures my sister did and one of the tattoo pics. Gus, a little stuffed animal sits on a set of books I read as a little girl and Paisley's first pair of Gracious May shoes sit on the end.

The other shelf has a pictures of her sister-cousin, a cork board filled with notes from her shower and her birth announcement.

Admitting My Weakness

Apparently it means you are mature if you can admit your weakness, so my weakness?

Donuts!

Donuts are to me what kryptonite is to Superman...they make me weak.

And I'm not too biased. I like donuts of all flavors, brands, shapes and sizes.

And these are just the ones I took pictures of! As my pregnancy progressed, the photo of the donut became an afterthought while getting the sweet, sugary goodness in my mouth became much more important.

Paisley has Arrived!!!

My life is forever changed. My baby girl was born on Monday, July 26. And after several days of being home and adjusting to life as a mom, I can say being a mom is the best ever.

Paisley made her arrival on her time. I had contractions off and on for a week and then Sunday morning starting having them regularly! They came in hour intervals for several hours so I started trying everything in the book to speed things along, from walking the dogs, to doing exercises and finally landed on playing Guitar Hero. The husband and I rocked it out for like 3 hours until I couldn't make it through a single song without having a contraction! The bag was packed and we were off to the hospital.

I called my parents and sister and Eric called his family. Within 30 minutes everyone was at the hospital and I was well on my way to delivering a baby for the very first time! Check out my sister's blog for a glimpse on how the day shook out for her. It's an amazing post.
